The Finishing Touch

3

After months of sweat and hard work, the time has come! The cameras are on their spots, the glass is put, so the paper can be removed from the windows. The Lomography Gallery Store is finished!

Piece by piece we transformed our beautiful building on the Herengracht from an empty building to a nice Lomography Gallery Store! From a new floor, to our unique LomoWall, from stock to store staff – everything is up to the last detail. Below you see our brand-new store-manager Jos, he is also eager to start!

…and store crewmember Laura as well :)

…and Madri is also very excited!

Today is the big day. The day that the work is finished and we can go celebrate on our amazing party at our Dutch Lomography Gallery Store! The cold beer is already waiting for us.

When are you coming to visit to sniff the smell of fresh rolls of film and brand-new cameras? Of course, you are invited to join us at the opening of the store tonight. You can’t make it? No worries – upward of tomorrow the store is open 7 days a week.

We are looking forward to it!! Catch you all tonight!

Lomografische groeten,
Team Lomography the Netherlands

Congratulations. I was just in Amsterdam, at the beginning of July. There was a little variety store that was selling plastic cameras (on the Princengraght. I asked if there was a Lomography Society and was told there wasn't one. Well now there is. I took , I think, many beautiful pictures in Amsterdam with my Diana F and Holga.

Doug DuBois on My Last Day at Seventeen

Doug DuBois spent five summers photographing the small neighborhood of Russell Heights in Ireland to capture the essence of coming of age: the inevitable loss of youth and the imminent transition into adulthood. Those four years resulted in his latest book, My Last Day At Seventeen. The book is a visual tale told through a collection of photographs and gives an alternative perspective through a comic narrative around the same subject. This creative combination of two distinct narratives in one book not only works wonderfully in visual terms; it also serves as an essential tool that lets the reader dig deeper into the story being told, making one go back to the book over and over again, yet from a new perspective, every single time.
