Out to the Beach in Fall: Waiao in Taiwan

Whereas most people go to the beach during summer, I prefer going there in fall. It is less crowded and more peaceful. When I visited Taiwan last time, I went to a great place for tourists, Waiao. It is just next to the railway station.

No one can resist the beauty of the sea. Yet, as I cannot swim, I prefer going to the beach in fall. Taking your favourite camera and music there, you can gain a peaceful day in life. There are many beaches in Taiwan but one of the most convenient beaches for tourists is Waiao as it is just located next to the Waiao Railway Station. Therefore, you don’t have to worry about transportation.

The beach is less crowed in fall but it does not mean there is no life! Since Waiao is a popular spot for wind surfing, you can still find wind-surfing lovers there in fall. They will inspire you and give you new insights in photography!

Besides, there are some artwork there. If you make good use of them, they can be great frames for your photos.

If you’re visiting Taiwan, next time, pay a visit to Waiao if you want to escape from the busy city life and enjoy a tranquil afternoon on the beach!

Summer Hot Spots: Blaavand, Denmark (Part Two)

When I was a child, I regularly went to Blaavand, located at the Danish west coast, with my brothers and parents. I stopped going there as I grew up. In 2012 however, we hit the road again. It was my first return visit in about 20 years. I took the chance and packed as many cameras as possible into my luggage. In part two of my journey log, I'm going to show you the pictures I took with my Lomography cameras.

    Kyoto in a Heartbeat

Like a cluster of cherry blossoms, the temples in Kyoto can stop visitors in their tracks. These people assume the pose of a statue, a camera dangling from their neck and hands. On a first visit especially, the impulse to photograph every angle is constant. The Kinkaku-ji Temple and the torii-lined Fushimi Inari-Taisha are always packed; one would think the tourists would hurry along. But really, many are busy taking snatches of Kyoto with them.

Fresh from the LomoLab: My Summer at a Campsite

I prefer being outdoors whenever I go on a vacation at the seaside. For this reason, I always choose to stay at a campsite instead of a hotel. This year, I stayed at a beautiful one in the south of Italy. Here is a series of photos which I received a few days ago from the excellent LomoLab service, taken with my Sprocket Rocket. Have a look after the jump!

A Salute to the Masters: Un Paese, August 2014 (A Tribute to Paul Strand)

This is a tribute to a founding father of photography, the American photographer Paul Strand. In 1955, he released a book about Luzzara, a small town in central Italy, in collaboration with the famous neo-realist screenwriter Cesare Zavattini. To pay homage to this great artist, this summer I personally went to Luzzara to take a series of photos that shows the changes in this little town 60 years after the work of Strand was published.

An Instant Camera Unlike the Others: The Lomo'Instant

    Registering Moments With the Lomo'Instant

Some people say instant photos bring about a feeling of nostalgia. Although I often use the Lomo'Instant Camera with different crazy accessories such as the Splitzer and color gels, I have to agree there is something about it — dreamy vignettes maybe? — that always makes me want to go back in time and experience it all over again. In the name of analogue photography and good old memories, we passed by some classic spots in Vienna and took one shot after the other. Take a closer look at our gallery.
