Have you ever wonder, why is it so easy for us to confess our love or say to "I love you’’ towards our partner (girlfriend/boyfriend), but nevertheless so hard for us to mouth the same words to our parents, especially to our dads.
In our home, Mama’s scolding or lecturing is something that you will hear quite often, because Mama is at home most of the time being a full-time housewife and a part-time baker selling cakes and stuff from home. But you know it is something big trouble if Papa is involved. It won’t take much from Papa to make us siblings all quiet as a mouse. I still remember this one incident when I just started primary one. Being a Malay with no chinese education background whatsoever my parents decided to send me to a chinese school. I was thrilled on the 1st day, yet I refused to come out of my room on the 2nd day because I couldn’t understand a single thing my classmate said. Although everybody tried to coax me but it took Papa to unlocked me out of my room. I don’t remember the conversation that we had back then, but whatever it is, it made me succeed throughout the years. Having said that, if he is not in his serious mood, he is one of the funniest adult actually.
As I grew older, I finally started to understand things that Papa did when I was growing up. Without I realised, I started to resemble a lot of Papa’s way too. Although I am still not at ease to say “I love you” to my dad, despite the fact that I really do, I’ll try to show it through my own way. Just like my dad how he shows his love to us siblings in his way :)
