Lomography

my grandma just turned eighty. for this occasion we thought to make a film about her heritage, her home-town. she was brought up in trakehen close to königsberg and had to leave her home in the course of WWII. Now Königsberg is an russian exclave on the top of poland.she was eighteen and has never seen the place since.so we grabbed a camera, drove 1 1/2 days to the border, argued three hours with russian solgiers and soaked in the landscape. coming to trakehen felt very familar in a way but so starnge, too. many buildings looked the same to the pictures but some buildings had vanished, the same with some streets. so it was hard to get around.eventually we figured, that her house was gone. all that was left was a huge pile of stones at the place of her former house. we took some of them and real earth and a little plant to bring it to her. What you see is my two brothers, my dad and me. But besides the film and the gadgets i was taking a piece of my past back to me!!!
