  • Cemetery of Cimiez Monastery

    Cemetery of Cimiez Monastery
The hill of Cimiez in Nice is well known for its old monastery founded in the 9th century and the actual Franciscan monastery is dated 1546. It was in the past times one of the main religious places of the whole area and the cemetery of this place is a very important one with some very old graves. You'll find in this cemetery most of all important families of Nice of the past centuries and some well known painters like Henri Matisse or Raoul Dufy who spent their last years in Nice. If you like angels and graveyard statues, come have a look at this place and you'll be surely fascinated by what you see. To go there, it's very easy: from the centre of the town go up north on the main hill of the city, the hill of Cimiez. It's indicated by street signs, and everyone in Nice knows where it is. Once at the gardens of Cimiez you'll see the monastery and its cemetery just behind. You can't miss it :)
  • Parc de la Ciutadella

    Parc de la Ciutadella
The "Parc de la Ciutadella" in Barcelona is cool, green and quiet place in the centre of the city and not so far away from the beach. It's located near to the "Estacio de França" (see other location) and there are plenty of things to make there. You can visit a zoo, make a little boat tour on a little lake, visit the geological and zoological museum and admire the great building of the Parliament of Catalunya in the centre of the park. A very "family friendly" park with a lot of things to do for the kids, great green space to make picnics, play, sunbathe and sleep away from the noises of the city. The place was constructed as a park when used for the 1888 Universal Exhibition in Barcelona. You can spend a whole day in this park by visiting the 2 museums, have a little rest and time for taking pictures, and after that make a little visit to the zoo! :) Have a nice day!
  • Tower of London

    Tower of London
The Tower of London is a great place, because it's full of history and it's a great place to take pictures. You have a castle and different sections to visit, from medieval arms to the jewels of the crown, and many other things. In the main building you can take pictures, even if there is not so much light... Outside, you got the guards of the Tower with their old- fashioned uniforms.
  • Sony Centre

    Sony Centre
The Sony centre in Berlin is one of the main buildings of the architectural renovation of the Potsdamer Platz, in the centre of Berlin. You can find there many shops, private apartments and the German film museum. When you enter (its free) in the centre, you'll immediately be impressed by the big glass and metal dome above your head.
  • MACBA

    MACBA
Do you know the MACBA in Barcelona? What is it?? It's the famous "Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona", great place of contemporary art, great building, and great place where the daily part of the Sonar festival takes place. It's located near of the "Plaça Catlunya" and the "Ramblas" in the centre of the city (Pl. dels Angels, 1). Easy to find, just follow the signs... The building was inaugurated 1995 and is the work of the architect Richard Meier.
  • La Reserve

    La Reserve
Nice is well known for the beaches along the seafront. During the summer they're crowded with so many tourists that spending an afternoon at the beach is not so nice...BUT, if you know some special places that only people living in Nice are going to, you can spend great time on the beach without the tourist crowd :). One of these places (the people of Nice wouldn't be very happy if they know that I am revealing this nice place...;) is the beach called "La Reserve" near the port of Nice. Go to the port, following the coastal road to Villefranche and directly after the port you'll arrive on the Boulevard Franck Pilatte, and follow the road until the restaurant called "La Reserve".
  • Science Museum

    Science Museum
The science museum in London is a great place because it's very interesting about many different things and because you can take pictures of almost everything you see! :) It's a way of learning many new things about science and what I prefer is the big room of planes, cars and space! Another very interesting part is about optics and history of photography and so many other different subjects.
  • Soviet II WW monument

    Soviet II WW monument
After the second world war, the winning soviets wanted to put a memorial for the Soviet soldiers in Berlin. The monument composed of a giant Entrance between two massive constructions with the sickle and the hammer with two statues of a soldier and a praying woman. Then it opens on a big Statue showing a soldier. The most impressive are these two constructions, like a giant triangle with sharp edges in a red-brown colour.
  • Market of La Libé

    Market of La Libé
It's the old market of the "Place de la Libération" named after the allied Victory in World War II and the liberation of the city of Nice in 1944. Since then, the place changed name into "Place Charles de Gaulle" but all the people still name it "la Libération", or best, "la Libé". The market takes place every day of the year, whatever the weather is. You can find all kinds of fruits and vegetables, great quality of fish, spices, flowers and very good Olive oil too... The whole market is very mixed in a very popular mood.
  • Islands of Lérins

    Islands of Lérins
The islands of Lérins are 2 little islands in the bay of Cannes, only 15 min by boat from the port of Cannes. Go until the end of the port and take one of the 2 companies who make the trips to the islands (see the links). Make a nice little journey to these islands which are a nature protected area and not touched by all the constructions and mass-tourism of the whole Cote d'Azur.
  • Beach of Altafulla

    Beach of Altafulla
When I went to Barcelona this summer, I made a little excursion south, in the direction Tarragona, to visit some friends living in Altafulla, small town on the Costa Daurada. It's about 100 km south from Barcelona and easy to go there with the coastal highway. You'll go out at the exit "Torredembarra/Altafulla", then follow the signs to Altafulla. In the city, follow the direction of the "roman ruins" and after "Playa de Altafulla". It's a great and wide sand beach and the beautiful blue/turquoise color of the sea gives you immediately a big smile! :)
