The 1000 tori shrines in Inari, Kyoto.
Fushimi Inari was founded in 711, and is the main shrine of a complex which trails all over the Inari mountain. In Japan Inari is the patron of wealth, and so the entire complex is worshipped by businesses from around Kyoto and beyond. In order to receive good fortune local businesses donate 'torii' which are traditional Japanese gates meant to mark the transition from the profane to the sacred. Fushimi Inari now has many thousand of these Torii all around the mountain, each one bearing the name of its donor.Taken by susielomovitz with a Lomo LC-A+ (available in our Online Shop) loaded with Kodak EB3, 35mm film in Kyoto, Japan.
