Messing about with an improvised flash filter

So I have this oldskool lomografhic flash.

Since I jammed some foam stuff in it to prevent bits from bending out of shape too much it works fine. Even fits on my old Agfa Isomat (well, of course it does, it’s a standard hotshoe, but still, somehow the whole hotshoe technique is a mysterious miracle to me). The only problem is, it is one hell of a flash. It tends to wash out the whole image.

I was messing about with it a bit, and than I noticed a bit of discarded developed negative, and I wondered: what if I would block the light wilt the negative?
Well: everything turns murky brown…

I admit, not a very earthshattering insight. Especially since I actually own a colorsplash…
