Fuji Velvia 50 RVP 120: Perfection for Landscape and Still Life

Fuji Velvia 50 RVP has, for many years, been the film of choice for professional landscape photographers. And when you use it for this purpose, or for still life, you'll see why. But cross-processing it yields fascinating results, too.

  • Fort William to Mallaig by Rail

    shared by troch on 2011-11-13

2005. We saw a poster in the campground at Ben Nevis for the Hogwarts Express, so we went into Fort William and were lucky enough to get on board. Officially it is called the Jacobean Express and we didn't get the Red Hogwarts engine for our trip but the cars are beautiful and the 41 mile trip between Fort William and Mallaig is amazing. The long viaduct was used for filming the Hogwarts Express. My face was so covered with soot from leaning out the windows that I could hardly see at the end of the day.

The Magic of Early Cinema – The Serpentine Dance

Today we’re looking at ‘The Serpentine Dance’, a wonderful short film produced by the Lumière brothers at the end of the 19th century – In the movie, we watch the dancer Loie Fuller as she moves gracefully around in a gown which constantly changes color – The film was shot in black and white and each frame was hand painted afterwards to give this beautiful effect. It truly is a masterpiece of early cinema...

I had a dream, a route not many would consider, it is the road less taken. The dream would lead me on to a rough journey, I would be sailing through the rough sea. Would I be able to make it? I don't know. It was a dream, because I only chose to dream, I dare not embark on the journey. Hence my ship will forever be bottled up, and displayed, as a dream,a once-upon-a-time dream.
