The Shot of My Year 2011

I'm not one for blogging - in fact this is my first (and quite possibly my last) so I'll make it count. I chose this photo not only because its is a reminder of an unforgettable trip to Iceland, but also becuase I thought this film was lost following a camera mishap...

My photo was taken on a surprise trip to Iceland just before Xmas 2011. Being winter in the Artic, when it wasn’t totally dark it was pretty grey so I only had a limited number of hours to get any daylight shots. I was driving out of Reykjavik when I saw four little Icelandic ponies in a snowy field by the road side. Being horse-crazy since childhood I pulled over and when I approached the fence, all four came galloping over. It was unbelievably cute! One nibbled on the leg of my jeans while the others were more interested in my camera.

The little guy in this photo nibbled on the leg of my jeans before giving me a snuggle – his coat was so thick it was like cuddling a pony-shaped teddy bear! I fell in love :) Unfortunately I needed to use my flash so I felt a little bad when it fired in pony’s face!

I’m so pleased this developed ok because when I arrived home I noticed the batteries in my camera had died. This happened once before, except that time I didn’t notice until five rolls later and they all came out blank :(

Happy 2012 everyone!
