Lomography

Remember, remember the 5th of November...I'm off to try and shoot some fireworks!

So, it’s Bonfire night here in the UK and whilst I don’t entirely think that celebrating the fact that we are still taxed to death by a rubbish parliment and killed the man that tried to blow them up is particularly correct, I do LOVE seeing brightly coloured chemicals wizz up into the night sky and explode!

Tonight I will be taking my beloved Holga and my Diana Mini to a local bonfire to try and capture people with sparklers, toffee apples, things on fire (hopefully in a controlled manner) and some explosive fireworks.

I’ve never shot fireworks before so I’m not sure what the best way to go about it is but I’m planning on a few long exposure experiments using a low ISO film and taking my colorsplash flash for close ups of my friends in their woolies waving sparklers and pork baps around.

Here’s a shot by charmmyqueen that I think is really awesome. If my results get within a mile of this I’ll be chuffed.

If you are celebrating Guy Fawkes night this weekend I hope you have a good one, remember to stay clear of the bonfire if you happen to be wearing a lot of nylon! If you aren’t celebrating then still have a good one and watch this space for my results :)
