I just realized that I ordered my first and still favorite Lomo Camera about one year ago, on 20th of november: it is the Diana snowcat. Since then, it seems that so many time passed! Now Lomography is auch a big part of my live that I ask myself how I could ever live without it :)

It must have been earliest at the beginning of november 2009 that I first read about lomography. It was a facebook discussion of somebody in my friends list who was writing about how great single use cameras are. Since I never really owed a digital cam (I borrowed sometimes the one of my mother for holidays) I also sometimes used the single use cams, but had no idea about ISO and whatever, and most of the pictures did not turn out. In the facebook discussion they started to mention Lomolitos, and I got interested: I started reading about Lomo on wikipedia, then found the Lomoforum and read all about the different cameras. I instantly fell in love with the Diana snowcat! Had to figure out what rollfilms are… and then, finally, ordered it! First with the 35mm back, and sprockets ruled my first Lomo month.

A picture of the first film: we used the wrong frame and had to read the manual all the time. I was very disppointed about the missing vignette and the greyish colors, but now I somehow like these first pictures.

That time, when I got infected by Lomography, I read EVERYTHING I could find. I think I can say that I read nearly every tipster that could be found and be used for the Diana!

I was so happy about my first crossprocessed slide film which I used in Paris. Luckily my flat mate has a negative scanner, so I could digitalize my sprocket pictures of the first films, until I got my own scanner as a late christmas present.

When I realized how redscales are done, I also had to try it out! And with my picture of the two soldiers, which is still one of my favorites, I won my first competition award!

Until now, many things changed. I know how to get a great vignette and only use 120 films without frames. And about 95% slide films, as I love the great xpro colors! Nearly all of my pictures are exposed when a roll is developped, and I feel like being far away from my first steps. I owe at least ten different cameras, maybe even more then twenty, and do not find the time to use them all. I owe too much films to put them in the fridge, but it’s ok, I like it when they are getting old. I shoot 120 films, 35 mm, instax, polaroid… uploaded more then 1750 pictures, got my first 100 likes – and I am so happy about all this progress! I can’t wait to travel the world with my cameras and take them EVERYWHERE!

But I am still failing a lot and have many things left to learn. And I want to thank you all, Lomography.com is such a great community that encourages me to go on and gives me so many great ideas, that I can’t count the little papers any more where I am writing all this ideas down.

And now I realize, that for my 116th Diana film I will use my 35mm back again. Just to remember the old times with my Lady in winter and lots of sprocket holes!

And for the end of this blog entry, here’s one of my favorite pictures until now, of course it is my muse and beloved frog friend:

I wish you a have LomoBirthday. And much ore to follow.
Analog has all time the advantage you only need the pics and a light to watch them not more.
And with some cameras no batteries to do pics are needed.

    Thank you all ^_^
@erinwoodgatesphotography: first, it was the Design, I fell in love with ;) then I wanted as much special features as possible, like Vignette, square format, crazy colors, fisheye effect, splitzer usw. The LC-A+ was too expensive, not in square and without flash - I first did not understand why everybody wants it.
Diana has many possibilities! You can buy different lenses, the different backs and of course the colorful flash! And it was not too expensive. That's how I choose ;)

@azzzy: yeah, I count them, that's part of my negative organization - giving them metadata like number, date, film, expiration date ;) I just didn't count in the instax!
