Analog Raid, the App for the Analogue Photographer.

I never know what was the aperture and speed used on the pictures I take, so, I never know how to repeat a picture I like!! If you have the same problem I do and also an iPhone, your troubles may be over.

Do you write down the aperture, time and distance of each picture you take? I don’t. Do you wish you have done it when you get a picture you love back from the lab? I do.

That’s why we at my work decided to make an iPhone app for the analogue photographer. Digital pictures already contain all that information but when it comes to our favorite thing to do, shooting with film, either you write down the information or you have an amazing memory (I don’t).

Not only the settings of your camera are important. Which film you used, at what time and place you took the picture, accessories used… it may not be important always, but sometimes it is good to have a report.

That’s what Analog Raid does. Instead of writing down in your notebook, this app is designed to make it all easier for you. Set the camera and film. Then, for each shot, the settings available on your camera. Don’t forget the light conditions and the accessories. Take the shot and save the info in your iPhone. You can later send it via e-mail and organize the data on a spreadsheet. Multiple exposures? Don’t worry, we thought of that!

We love analogue but we know that Lomography wasn’t possible without the digital world. We know that many of you, like us at my work, have an analogue camera in one hand and a smart phone on the other. That’s why you can learn so much from this community, because we communicate. A lot! :)

Give it a try with Analogue Raid! We want your help to improve this app with some constructive critics and new cameras and films for our database. Get it on the App Store and send us an e-mail with your thoughts.

I have the early version of the Lubitel 2; very similar, with times up to 1/200 (not 1/250). No flash attack, like the Lubitel 1. I have another Lubitel 2 (with latin character, more recent), a 166U and a166+, but the old version of the Lubi 2 has the most bright viewfinder!

I bought these cameras on flea markets. The more recent Lubitel 2 was bought for only 1 euro! and repaired. The older version for 5 euros... the 166U many years ago for approx. 10 euros... great cameras!

@neanderthalis: As long as it works! :) They say when USA was working like crazy to make a pen that worked on space, Russian cosmonauts took a pencil... ;)) Happy holidays!

It really is a great idea. I like how you said it will store film and camera to use for each picture of the roll. I just can't afford the smart phone plus the plans at the moment. I am naive, does the app work on the Ipad too? I can recommend to a friend.

@neanderthalis: Yes, it works on iPad (but it is not designed for the iPad). Thanks! :)

Cool! I'll definitely have a look! It's definitely impossible to juggle a camera (or two, or three!) and a notebook and pen.
