Getting bored of the same places every time you go out? Maybe it's time to start thinking seasonally!

I like watching cooking TV shows and all the good shows always say to just go to your local market to see what is in season. From there you can decide what to make. This seasonal approach to cooking is also a great way to view Lomography. For those of of doing the Lomography contests every month, we might already be thinking seasonal.

You can take the message literally and head to the local farmers market and photograph what might be fresh and in season. But you might also look at it from a wider lens. There are four seasons, twelve months in the year and countless holidays. All of which will bring something totally new to your area to tickle your Lomography cravings.

Another trick to try is to think like a tourists. You see the same thing over and over in your town so you might get bored. I live in Honolulu, Hawaii and even I start to think that my tiny little island never changes. I think about why I should go out because there is nothing new, nothing exciting. Frankly, it it fatalistic thinking. Think like a tourist and look again at every tiny detail fresh.

Combine thinking seasonal and and thinking like a tourist and you will have lomography gold. And if you can’t hand it just follow the Lomography Golden Rules – Don’t think, just shoot.
