Let me begin by saying that I have been a Polaroid addict for many years, and that the news of Polaroid's demise was for me a near cataclysmic event.

Zdravstvuyte, Lomographers!

A quick reminder to get your images in for the "JPG":http://www.jpgmag.com & Lomography Long Exposure Photo Challenge. We want our friends at JPG to see the incredible creativity of Lomographers around the world, so "head on over":http://www.jpgmag.com/themes/107/?utm_source=lomo_blog&utm_medium=lomo_website&utm_campaign=Lomo_Photo_Challenge there and expose yourselves!

On Thursday, June 19, 2008, the place to be in New York City was Reed Space in NYC's Lower East Side, where Lomography and "Staple Design":http://www.stapledesign.com/ threw a shindig of epic proportions to launch the flashy new "Colorsplash Chakra":http://www.lomography.com/colorsplashchakra/ camera. If you were there, you're probably in a few of these photos (sorry again for the point-blank flash assault), or better yet, you may have taken a few of them, because there were Colorsplash Chakra cams hanging from the ceiling, inviting you to fondle and paw them and hopefully bathe your friends in waves of color.

"JPG Magazine":http://www.jpgmag.com is one of our very favorite publications. Each month, they present a slamming collection of images, stories, and photo journalism - all sourced from the hyper-creative members of their online community. We share a lot of synergy with them, as many JPG contributors are diehard Lomographers and many of their features focus on Lomographic and analog cameras. Working with them on a collaborative photo challenge was a natural first step in what will surely be a long and fruitful relationship. Here are the details:

Thank you to everyone who attended the launch party for the Colorsplash Chakra camera and book at Reedspace in NYC last night. We apologize for the flash-blindness and hope your chakras are still aligned after all that partying!

Last Sunday, "B&H":http://www.bhphotovideo.com/find/EventSpace.jsp was kind enough to host a Lomography event in which resident Lomography Professor Mike Kuhle led a group of rag-tag Lomographers on an urban safari of midtown Manhattan equipped with "Diana+":http://www.lomography.com/diana/ and "DianaF+":http://www.lomography.com/diana/products/diana-f-plus cameras.

The "f295 Symposium":http://www.f295.org/ was a 5-day gathering in Pittsburgh, PA of photographers and mega-photo-geeks alike to discuss lensless, alternative and adaptive photographic processes. If you're into pinhole photography, camera obscura, or developing photos on metal and glass, f295 would be better than Disneyland for you.

Like many people in the Lomography community, I used to think I was a big-time photo geek. Well, I recently went to the "f/295 symposium":http://www.f295.org/symposium2008/ in Pittsburgh, PA, and shared a weekend with some all-star photo geeks! For those of you who think every coffee can, matchbook, or shoe box would make a great camera, this is the place for you!

Join us for music, refreshments, and an incredible photo installation of colorsplash photos from around the world!
"RSVP";mailto:lomo@stapledesign.com as space is limited!

The "f295 symposium":http://www.f295.org/symposium2008/ is an in-depth exploration of the many different & alternative ways in which we can make photographs, and a look at how contemporary culture shapes the choices we make. It’s the only event of its kind that exclusively features artists and photographers talking about their work and the ideas that shape what they’re doing!
