I bought it on amazon, after a bit of researching of other people’s experiences. There were plenty complaints around the interwebs – mostly concerning the unclear assembly instructions (probably caused by shabby translation who knows from which language), the absence of a screwdriver for the tiny screws in the package, and some screws missing or left over. But at the end everybody loved it anyway.
My seller was awesome enough to throw extra stuff in, which was not originally in the TLR package itself – a screwdriver, a strap for the camera, and the first roll of film. The screwdriver was even the kind with a magnetic tip, which definitely came in handy.
And the instructions must have gotten better based on the complaints, because I had no problem following them at all. Granted, it will take you more than the hour they say to assemble the whole thing, i’d say 3 to 4 hours is more realistic, but it is great fun. It really does help to see a mechanical camera from the inside, I played with the shutter for ages before I built the rest around it :) And the viewfinder, the viewfinder on this camera is just pure magic.
Altogether, I am really happy with this addition on my photo shelf. And I love the pictures it makes.
