Lomo Rally across Spain & Portugal

So, it is really happening! Me, my best friend and my brother are going to cross 2 countries in my brother’s convertible! We go from Valencia to Lisbon, across the Southern Spain and Portugal, and we go back through Extremadura.
The plan is to avoid any big cities, apart from Lisbon there we have to stop ’cause it was a whole idea.

Here is the whole plan:

September, 7th- we leave Valencia, stop at Calp for lunch, stay overnight at the Bodegas Barranco Oscuro wineyards near Granada;

September, 8th- we drive via Huelva to Sagres, the Southest point of Portugal. We stay there for 2 nights to celebrate my brother’s Birthday by the ocean;

September, 10th- we arrive to Lisbon and stay overnight;

September, 11th- we leave Lisbon and drive to La Siberia which is in the middle of Spanish Extremadura province. As all of us were born in Russian Siberia, it will be very interesting to compare it with the Spanish one:)) We might visit such towns as Trujillo and Evora. We stay overnight in the middle of La Siberia, at a tiny village of Puebla de Alcocer.

September, 12th or 13th- we arrive back to Valencia.

I am taking A LOT of films with me to document everything, and I will try to write a blog on a way if there will be any WiFi.

If you live somewhere on our way and would like to meet up for drinks or shoot some doubles- please let me know!

    @catarella what about Vila Vicosa and Elvas?

  6. catarella

    Hmm.. @neja I've never been there, but should be good too! The most important is that you don't stick to the highway and take the small roads instead (at least part of the way) so that you get a chance to shoot some nice flat fields. They should be amazingly yellow by now! =) I'll think of some more tips when I get out of work!

    @catarella we don't want to visit too many towns/ cities 'cause otherwise we will not be able to do the whole trip on time. but we will have to stop anyway, to eat and so on. also, my brother is the only one who drives...

    I only know tourist places in Calp. You better go to Calp near the harbour - but the best places are a little awya from the coastline. Just ask - there are lots of British folks living there. Everyone speaks English! ;-)

    @sprofishgel yes, we are going to Algarve- we will be staying a night or two in Sagres, so we will be driving through Tavira perhaps (I have been there once, very lovely).
    @artichekt I speak basic Spanish, so I will try to ask locals!:)

    if you do not speak Spanish well, speaks in English which is the second language spoken in Portugal.
    if you were in the Algarve for more days, I would like to meet you.
    since you're going to Tavira, go as well to Faro and Lagos, these cities are very beautiful.

    enjoy the trip!! ^.^

    Ok, it didn't go according to the plan, but it was super cool anyway!
    We did 600 km in a first day and stsyed in Sierra Nevada mountains for the night. We visited amazing organic winery and bought 4 reds and 4 Cavas from them.we did 600 km more next day and stayed in Sagres, Portugal for 2 nughts. We explored Elvas, Estremoz and Evora in the next days. We swimmed in the lake of La Siberia, Extremadura and stayed in Cirdoba overnight. We drove 600 km to rich Valencia, with two stops- in tge mountains and in Albacete. Vous a la!:)
