It all started last year with my father handing me his old Canon AE-1. I was looking online at film camera websites when I found Lomography, then it was an Actionsampler, Holga 135, 120…. now there are 12 film cameras in the house that are just mine. I’ve even spread the addiction to my wife who LOVES her digital but could not wait to get her hands on a fisheye 2 once she had the fever.
I have played in digital and even own one because work necessitates it, but thats it.
I have even convinced a die-hard digital guy in to dusting off another AE-1 because he can’t get the pictures I do with film.
My refrigerator and freezer each have a shelf taken up with rolls of film waiting to be used and I love it. I have been chased out of places for taking photos (embarrassing) and the funniest is when the guy wanted me to “erase” the pictures in front of him. He looked dumbfounded when I let him know that I could not because it was film. He did not believe that they still made film and he wanted to know more. He let me keep the photos as long as I kept them offline.
I think I will be going as long as I can find film and a developer. Learning to develop my own film is next on my to-do list.
