Life as a Uni Student. Entry #1.

I've always wanted to have some sort of diary or something to record all of the amazing things that are always happenning around me, but it has always ended up as a cheesy piece and at the end, I've always shied away from the idea. But now with Lomography surrounding my life, I'd like to tackle this amazing opportunity to reflect back and appreciate my life in a Lomographic scope.

It all sort of started as a joke really. I’ve always been a fan of quite a lot of British TV shows and movie stars, and one day one of my best friends said to me. “Imagine living literally a few km away from them!” And that sort of sparked the entire idea of moving to the UK and studying here. After few more months of hard work in high school, I was pleased to see that my opportunity will not be missed.

At first, like most Asian parents, my dad of course expected me to get into the best schools in the region. After explaining to him (and apologizing. Like, a lot) that it might be a bit difficult, seeing my average grades and everything, I narrowed down my choices to firstly, the University of Warwick and secondly, the University of Reading.

Come results day, I was devastated to see that my grades won’t help me get into Warwick. But now that I’m here in Reading I think that God must have sort of twisted my path this way for many great reasons and I am so happy of His choice. Now, I have the opportunity to live in one of the most beautiful places, let alone most beautiful campus I have ever visited.

I was a bit nervous coming here, being so far away from my hometown and its familiar, smiling faces. But people here always make me feel at home each day, and it’s such a great pleasure to be living among this friendly community.
