We all live a busy, stressful life. No question about it. And a lot of the times, we forget to stop and appreciate how wonderful it is to live in such a beautiful world. This is a story about how photography hinted me the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything (which sadly is not 42).
I am one of those few fortunate people who have been given the opportunity to hop between countries, living among different environment and societies as I grow up. It’s really easy to forget how fortunate I am, and get all wrapped up in problems that I thought were bigger than life itself.
Photography has helped me appreciate where I am standing right now. It helps me look back and realize how far I’ve gone and how grateful I should be. Photography helps remind me of all the amazing and inspirational people that I’ve met. Photography helps me capture these little moments of happiness, and present them in a charming, special way.
Throughout the years, I started to realize that capturing beautiful photos isn’t all about travelling to pretty places and being in the middle of interesting events. It’s about looking at who and what’s around you, and realizing how lucky you are to be there.
Our world is beautiful. Our individual stories are beautiful. There is beauty in learning, there is beauty in discovering something new. There is beauty in appreciating what has been given to you. It’s up to us to realize and appreciate this, or to become a person who feeds off negativity and complaints.
As cliché as it sounds, life is a journey. Strike that, life is your journey. Treasure it the best way you can. For me, it’s through the viewfinders of secondhand cameras and a good dollop of bokeh. How do you treasure yours?
