    Magnification Made Easy

We all love a good macro shot, but most of our toy cameras do not allow for in-focus close-ups. In the past, I have experimented with using a hand-held magnifying glass to obtain some close-ups with the LC-A+. However, the focal length was always estimated, and often wrong. I wanted a way to use a magnifying glass and always obtain an in-focus close-up despite using a camera that doesn't have true viewfinder.

    My May Ode to Instant

Patience is a Virtue. As photographers who appreciate the traditional methods of photography, patience is essential. We don't often know what the end products of our photographs will be before processing and scanning. This is something that we have come to accept, and for the most part, even embrace. But sometimes, you just need to have your images on the spot.

Another Analogue Alberta Adventure - Take a Stroll with us through Dinosaur Valley

Drumheller is town in the "badlands" part of central Alberta, Canada, which is known for containing a wealth of uncovered dinosaur fossils. The combination of historic coal mines, suspension bridges, winding rivers, hoodoos, and, oh yeah, the world's largest Tyrannosaurus Rex, made this location ideal for the second Analogue Alberta Lomo Meet.

Calgary Stampede - The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth Celebrates 100 Years

The 100th anniversary of the Calgary Stampede (also known as “the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth”) is being celebrated this year (July 6th to 15th). The Stampede is an annual 10 day rodeo and fair that is attended by people from around the globe. It is likely this event that helps perpetuate the “Cowtown” nickname for Calgary because everyone’s inner cowboy or cowgirl comes out for the Stampede. Oh yeah, and we get some genuine cow-folk as well.

A Peek into the Past Through Restored Automobiles

Is it wrong to take a trip down memory lane to an era that you don’t actually have memories of because you weren’t alive back then? Why is it that vintage cars pull at my heart strings with a certain nostalgia? On a recent trip through Revelstoke, British Columbia, I was thrilled to encounter a vintage car show.

Calgary in LED – a Colourful City at Night

The City of Calgary, located in the Alberta Prairies, is often referred to as “Cowtown” due to its long history of hosting one of the world’s largest rodeo shows and carnival a.k.a. the Stampede. Although this nickname conjures images of the old west, the city is actually quite modern and progressive. This is particularly noticeable in the use of energy efficient LED lights as part of some beautification projects.
