Lomography

On the first day of May I went to Quiapo Church to pray. In front of the church is Plaza Miranda which has long been in Philippine political history an assembly point of many protest rallies in Manila. Since it was labor day, it came as no surprise that outside the church was a mass of protesters preparing to move towards Mendiola that afternoon. Since I never go out of the house without two or three of my cameras, I decided after praying to take some photographs to document history-in-the-making. The rallyists were affiliated to Kilusang Mayo Uno or KMU - a known militant labor union in the Philippines - together with other people's organizations holding the same ideological line. Doubled my shots with images of Philippine paper moneys which perfectly fit one of the rally's calls - a P125 across the board wage increase - aside from other social justice issues like land reform, oil price hike and US-RP Visiting Forces Agreement.
