It happens with family, with friends, and also with LSI: the pictures I love, everyone else shrugs off, and then they pick out something else that I hate and call it great! What gives?!
This one above? This is the one I loved from my last round. I used it for my SoLocations Bike Route piece, and it came out better than I could have hoped. It’s an old, defunct fuel station along the route, still in town, but there’s very little commercial at that end anymore. Everything is still there, though, and I need to head that way and burn another roll or two in the near future. So much to capture there.
But not so much on that one for the handpicked photos. They picked four other ones (really, I’m flattered) from the same set of uploads, including one I really do like. But it’s interesting what we value versus what other people value.
It’s the same for how we see ourselves and how other people see us, no?
