The dark interior of my most nightmarish memories,throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries Redruth was west Cornwalls principal market town and the acknowledged capital of Cornish mining,Redruth possesses some fine Victorian period urban architecture including those on Clinton Road, lined with late victorian and edwardian villas built on former mining ground at a time when redruth miners were prospering(?) in South Africa, Remarkable buildings include the school of science and art(1833)standing next to the Robert Hunt Museum, now part of the Redruth Public Library, The School of Science and Art was for many years the Art College for vocational and applied art in Cornwall having had many students and staff of note pass through its now somewhat unhinged doors. Here in this picture theres a bit of surviving artwork that some sweaty arsed builder has jammed into the upstairs window, the door on the right was a staff room full of groaning halfwits and subspecies, at the top of the stairs on the right a doorway conducted the hapless first year student into a mezzanine were a lovely Mr Thomas would bring the A level English sylabus into a sort of knockabout pantomime with the very badly formed Technical Illustration er.....thingy's
