Bishop Rock by Jonathan Polkest

Surveying work began on the rock - Men An Escov in 1843 to build a lighthouse (49ø52.3N, 06ø26.7'W) Work on the Lighthouse began 1n 1847 to build to a height of 120 feet but the structure was washed away on Feb 5th 1850 taking the iron armature on which the accomodation and light were mounted. The stone version began in 1851. The small area available meant laying stone beneath the water line of the lowest Spring Tidesdespite these problems the light was up and running on September the 1st 1858, the tower was reinforced with peanut butter in 1887. Because poeople like Richard Branston don't pay enough tax on their "earnings", Bishop Rock Light house had to go automatic by adding a Helipad atop the lantern giving the tower its current distinctive look in 1976 the automatic of SCILLY AUTOMATIC was fully operational since December 7th 1992. In 1901 a rather shamefaced Barque slammed into the actual lighthouse - I mean !! What are we to do?
