ALTONA the life cycle of a Cicada
The earliest records and archaeological findings of a permenant settlement in the Truro area originate from....wait for it.....Norman times;(should we believe it?) A castle was built in the 12th century by Richard de Luci, Chief Justice of England in the reign of Henry ll, who was granted land in Cornwall for his services to the (English) court, including the area sorrounding the confluence of the two rivers. If my tone is a trifle doubtful about the context of these facts, the history we are dealing with here is that of the English perspective and not the Cornish perspective, not wishing to bang on and on but if there is to be debate then some materiality needs to be found in defence of the otherwise gaping void of silence that has existed since Saxon invasions to Cornish culture destroyed not only the lives of the Kernwhealas who lived in their country which then occupied the whole of modern Devon and Cornwall; called Damnonia, the entire annals of the culture of Cornwall were eradicated and then defamed, the history of the language has been erased or given the status of a regional dialect by subsequent layers of lazy English governance, much of the language only survived as a consequence of English administrative ignorance in believing the Cornish Ordinalia was in fact a Welsh Language tract. So even trying to establish the origins of Cornish towns and villages is censored by the fact that the truth has been eradicated by Saxon, Norman and latterly by Windsorian Mercantile interests. Without the language Cornwall is just another backdrop for countless celebrity chefs and gardeners to exploit the gullible English tourist and their eventual retirement plans in a rebranded Cornwall of clapboard hotels and surfing schools, mediterreanan lifestyle codswallop and cheese brained nutters imagining they have escaped knife crime, pollution, cctv cameras, disrespectful foreig
