Cyanotype

This is the first Cyanotype I have ever made. I purchased the Sunography paper (solar powdered paper sold by Lomography) at one of the art supply stores by me. It’s a bit pricy at $14 for 6 5x7sheets so I stopped at 3 and posted the best ones I made.
To make this print I used some cardboard letters and shapes, as well as, transparency paper that had. I followed the instructions and let the paper sit out in the sun for 10 minutes. I then rinsed it in a bath of lukewarm water and lastly (not on the directions) poured some hydrogen peroxide on it. This last step is vital if you are looking for a vibrant and rich color, if you want a dull more muted color let dry as is. I had a lot of fun and can’t wait to use the rest of the paper on other projects.

I love the idea of doing cyanotype prints with liquid emulsion on cotton water color paper. I have the paper, just waiting on the cyanotype kit from Freestyle.
