French Infrared Digital Photographer, Romain Osi's open air exhibition in Bandung, Indonesia

Romain Osi is really give me one important lesson, which is appreciating my photo, eventhough it's so-so and unpopular, don't delete the photo that I have uploaded at my lomohome =p

When I googling myself name =p I found one of my photo at romainosi.com and it’s really surprised me. Then I click the photo web page and more become surprised when Romain Osi himself made a link of one of my photo that shoot his exhibition. Unfortunately I have been deleted his exhibition photo series at my lomohomes last year. Wanna know why I did that? Check after the jump =)

I’m very concerned with what other people think about my photo, I didn’t do it for myself eventhough I’m still searching my own style of photo. That’s why I deleted a lot of none comment and like photo at my lomohomes because I conclude that as the unviewed photo of me. But I’m totally wrong because Romain Osi himself was viewing my photo. I don’ know where he know my lomohomes, maybe he did googling himself name just like I did =p

Ok, enough typing about me and my stupid behaviour, let’s talk about Romain Osi. I read about his article at Pikiran Rakyat, the most famous daily morning newspaper in Bandung. It told that Romain Osi, French photographer who visiting Bandung for the first time held his exhibiton at the side of the road right in front of Balai Kota (the office of Major and the house of representative of the city) Bandung. It’s quite unique because in Indonesia mostly photo exhibition are held in door or at the front yard of some museum/building.

Romain Osi are usually did photo hunting at night. He argued that at night people become more relax and the stressfull are not really intense at night. He captured a lot of familiar object that I have captured with so-so result, but at his photo the object become a brilliant result.

I come few day after his opening exhibition, so I didn’t get a chance to see him, but viewing his photo exhibition and read the explaination at one board at the edge of the road made me feel that he was right in front of me and did some tutorial how to shoot usual object to appear as beautiful photo.

He accompanied by some of Bandungnese with motorcycle went around Bandung at night. Oh I almost forget that he was invited by Commonroom (art independent community in Bandung) and CCF (Culture Center of France) Bandung.

I still looking digital photo eventhough I’m totally using film to shoot my everyday life. With looking at digital photo I can compare to the analogue world, what the strength and weakness of each other.

So many opinion about digital and analogue. All I could say if there are my family and friend who ask why still shoot with film, my answer is just “To know the answer, you can try shoot with my film camera.”

But I think it will spent more of my time and money because most people didn’t get the enjoy and fun of shoot with film because they didn’t do it intensely just like the analogue lover did. So I choose Paul McCartney’s answer : “Let It Be”
