growl's LomoHome

male (32) from Brisbane, Australia

Born and raised in Canada, I've had a camera for as long as I can remember. Starting with a 126 film camera (can't remember what kind... trying to find it in all my old boxes of stuff), on to a cheap 110 film camera from McDonalds (ya, you know the one... bright orange). Then I one day managed to buy a cheap 35mm point and shoot. When that finally broke I moved on to a couple of digital pont and shoots, then on to a digital SLR (Canon 400d then a 7d) then a small army of 35mm film slr's, a slightly smaller army of medium format cameras (tlr, slr, holga, folder) and now I am patiently waiting for an old Lomo lc-a to battle its way through the postal strike. About several years ago I quit my job and ran off to Australia where I got very serious about photography (that's when I started using slr's). I've learned a lot and I'm really happy with the quality of images that I can come up with now. But one thing I've noticed is that I don't take as many pictures as I used to. Before, I'd have my camera with me everywhere I went and I'd snap pictures anytime anywhere usually without looking through the viewfinder. When I started getting more serious I stopped taking my cameras with me as much and really didn't take every shot that I would have liked to. I've been trying to recapture that way of shooting that I used to do when I was younger and when I heard about the Lomo lc-a I thought "That's the one!". Just the right combination of simplicity, features and picture quality for what I want. So here I wait. show more show less
