When better isn't actually an improvement.

I have a Lomo LC-Wide which I have had for a few years and generally love it to bits however when I brought it I remember choosing between the LC-Wide or the LC-A+. The only reason that I got the Wide was because it was the newer version. While the LC-Wide is a great little camera I have always wondered about the LC-A+ so when Lomo ran a workshop I jumped at the chance and the results are pretty awesome. We spent a few hours running around little Venice taking shots including some double exposure shots. I also had a chance to use some Revlog film which was fun.

I big thats must go out to Rosie for making it a really fun workshop :-)

Now heres the interesting thing. I actually prefer the LC-A+ to the Wide simple because I have the option to go wide if I want to but am not forced to. This got me thinking about how allot of ‘upgrades’ in products are not actually an improvement but in fact are taking away options from the user (Mac OS X 10.8 and a Glock Gen 4 come to mind). I like the fact that the LC-A+ has more options and you have to put a little more work into getting good shots plus for some reason I do think the lenses captures light ALLOT better than the Wide.

Anyone on to the photos …
