I am able to fix the shutter of an Lc-a, but I can't drop a roll into a Horizon without destroying it. I will tell you both stories. Not for the sensitive readers ! !

I screwed up Pearlgirl’s roll

Pearlgirl77 was so nice to do doubles with me. She sent me a roll, shot with her Horizon and all I had to do was put it into my Horizon. So what can possibly go wrong???? Well, I was not my stupid self. I took my Horizon from some shelf and I fired it for fun. So I noticed it was loaded. Normally I would have opened it, cursed and loaded the roll, now I did put Pearl’s roll on my shelf.

The plot thickens. I was at my photolab and they were having a problem. Someone dropped in an agfa Scala B&W slide and they couldn’t develop it and the specialized lab would not develop it. So they asked me if I could develop it as a B&W negative. So the roll ended upon my shelf next to Girl77’s roll.

Fast forward. I was pouring water in my Patterson tank and then I saw te empty roll… it was Pearlgirl77’s roll that was in the tank. I poured the water away and left the tank in a dark an dry place. A few days later I opened it and the film was dry. So I started to respool it. Ding-Dong the doorbell rang. I dropped the fim in the Patterson tank and I sealed the light lock. I put on the lights and went down to buy some pancakes from girls who pretended they were selling them for their school. When I went back to the dark room I realized that putting on the light lock was not enough, the spool (that holds the reel) is also a part of the light lock. So I could see the film through the hole. So it had been exposed.

It is the first roll I screw up in a darkroom. Yesterday I told Buckshot that in the darkroom time is your friend, so nothing can go wrong. I forgot to mention that stupidity is your enemy and a few hours later I messed up this roll. Sorry Pearlgirl.

Fixing the sticky shutter of an Lc-a

A few months ago I was able to get hold of two really cheap Lc-a’s. One had a missing ISO dial and the other one a sticky shutter. I took the ISO mechanism from the sticky Lc-a and I put it into the other one: result: one working Lc-a. Yesterday I decided to try and fix the Sticky Lc-a. And it worked! ! Now I have another working Lc-a, without a ISO dial. An Lc-a is really made to unscrew yourself. Some newer cameras are glued together, but this one is all screws. Lots of screws.

I painted it.
you don’t want ot see you Lc-a like this

Phew...! I thought from the title this was going to be about how you destroyed a Horizon - luckily, you didn't. And you fixed TWO LC-As - bravo!! Great blog, as always, Mr Greetz!
