Scanned Prints vs. scanned negatives

While I was cleaning up I stumbled on some prints I made last year. They were absolutely stunning, I am not talking about my photographic skills, but about the tone, depth and contrast in the pictures. It was like you could touch the subjects. So I scanned them to compare the dark room prints to the scanned negatives. There is only one problem, the magic of the prints got lost in the scans.

Anyway this is the same picture, one is a scanned print, the other one a scanned negative. One thing I only notice now: my scanner thumbnailed wrongly: it has cut off a dark part of the pic.

I don’t think there is a great difference. As I mentionned above the creaminess of the print is gone in the scanned version. I was gonna scan a lot of prints but I stopped after four, because the result was not as expected. here are the others.
