NOW WITH PHOTOS!! I went to the Allan Gardens Conservatory and brought my own camera. People stared. What gives?

Lots of photographers get tired of the winter landscapes after a long winter and are dying to shoot something brighter. I decided that today was the day to head out to a botanical conservatory with the family. Once there I realized that other photographers had the same idea. Big lenses on big money digitals on tripods and cell phones. Without exception, EVERYONE noticed my pinhole blender 120. You’d think they’d never seen a cookie tin with black tape on a pan head tripod before. A handful of people were overcome with curiosity and asked. I smiled and explained. A few even expected instant results. “Can I See?” (-: Sure you can. Just maybe later.

Last time I was at a botanical garden (in Washington DC), it was wall to wall people with strollers and cameras galore. I can't imagine taking pinhole shots in that chaos. Could be fun though.

I had a similar result with my SLR and a photography club at the local greenhouse. One guy scratched his head in disbelief and ask "Do they even make film anymore?" My first thought was "If they don't I am standing here with an ridiculously empty camera."
I will be looking forward to your blender results. I am contemplating putting that on my wish list.

haha --> "may be later" Oh boy. I almost got into trouble at a museum... The security didn't believe my blender was NOT a bomb!

@ihave2pillows I'd never thought about security. Maybe bring the manual? Or load it once inside.

Haha. I went to a local wildlife club photography group outing at a wildlife sanctuary. It was exclusively middle aged men with massive lenses on digital cameras. They were not friendly! Lots of dirty looks for my beautiful Bronica. Didn't go back.

@schlogoat Big lenses often mean big egos, forgetting that it's supposed to be fun!!
