The Lomography story November 2010- March 2011

I’m really glad that Lomography have told me that for 5 piggies all I have to do is write a blog because it prompted me to check out my old blogs and I reminded myself that I need to check in with people who I had asked to do a series with me last year about childhood toys.

So what’s been going on since November? I went to the new Lomography store in Toronto towards the end of November and shot a bunch of films including experimenting with the redscale film I hadn’t used before.
I found out that the personal series of images that I had submitted to Square Magazine for their first publication had been accepted and It felt great knowing that my images were going to be published somewhere! It was even greater that it was a series that was totally me, how I would work all the time if It would feed me. From that I won a Diana mini which I shot my first roll in square- I had to for winning it from that competition! and i’m still waiting to get the second roll i shot with it developed, it’s true what they say about it shooting forever!
Winter struck in full force with the ‘snowapocalypse’ happening and I was there with my colorsplash to document it. I shot quite a few rolls with my colorsplash but just after Christmas it’s film turning mechanism died and I’ve been meaning to ask if there is anything Lomography can do about it. Over christmas I treated myself to a pink fisheye 2 and shot a bunch with it on my trip to England with my family there.
While I was in England I went to the Lomography store in Soho wearing a cheesy christmas sweater for a competition that they had going on and a week later when I’d just landed back in Canada I found out I’d won a Diana Chome edition. I loved playing with the pinhole setting and loved the results I got from Coloursplashing with it.
It was around that time that my Lomohome was up for Lomohome of the day and I made a lot of new friends through that. I was honored recently when I was included in the top 100 female lomographers for international womens day. I’ve been writing a lot of articles lately and because I enjoy writing and making some use of all the photos I take!
I’ve currently got 2 film swaps on the go and can’t wait to see the results! I’m also currently waiting for a package to arrive containing a Spinner and a bunch of film which i’m taking to Chicago with me next week when I go to see the Vivian Maier exhibition.
