How Lomography was packed in that gift for my 26th Birthday

Did you see that the title was full of spoil? It’s kind of the synopsis of that story!

Everything started last march, oh wait wait wait! That’s not true, I told lies in the title! I started photography a few years ago with digital photography… Hey wait that’s false again! All started with one time use cameras. Yeah that’s the correct start of the story. Before I had the money to buy a digital camera, It was common for me to buy one time camera. That was a cheap alternative to no photos.

This was my first picture:

A few years after, I started working and bought my first digital camera then a second one, my first reflex digital camera… It was my everyday friend, always there. I always thought I would finish to buy something like a nikon Dsomething. During that time, I started seeing some strange pictures called “lomo” or something like that… I was amazed by that effect so I started looking after that… Found some photoshop effect and started to apply it a bit too much… I searched and found some cameras and wasn’t sure if I wanted it or not… Like ever, i’m never sure.

The girl that made all this possible

On the 28th of March of this year, my girlfriend gave me that box… I was sure it was a camera inside of it… Don’t know how but I was sure! And that was the Diana F+ CMYK, I directly felt in love with the Lady. This was the only way to be sure I will need it forever! Time after time, it started to replace my Nikon D80 in my bag, the lady was smaller and lighter. My new everyday friend. After a few months, she needed a friend. And I bought the fisheye.. The crazy lomo part of me started to become more and more present. It was kind of an illness.

Five months after I started analog photography again, I sold my digital camera. That was a new era for me… And now I have like 10 differents analog cameras. And can’t live without them!
This is a love for life history!

Just before I sold the digital big boy, I bought that wonderful LC-A+ and he started to be in my bag everyday with the diana. These are I think the cameras I mostly use.

How lomography changed my life? Yeah, that lovely community changed my life, you changed my life. I don’t know really how it cames, but now I started to look the world with a brand new eye. I started to document everything. To write about things I love. To like holidays pictures… A few years ago, I was not comfortable with holidays pictures of myself, I thought I’m not that tourist… But hey, that’s part of the story… It helps me to remember… And I have a goldfish memory:D

Thanks to lomography we organized a meeting in a library… It helped found friends with a common interest. It helped me a lot.. And I’m graceful for that so much!
It’s like a therapy that does not cost as much as a therapist!
