dottie's LomoHome

female (19) from London, United Kingdom

i reckon my love of photography begun when i use to always rummage through the massive family collection of photos we have stored away in a massive chest of draws, I was fascinated by the way in which these photos captured moments within all of our lives that i could look back at my father and mother at my own age. Though it soon became clear to me that our family photo collection had almost just stopped after me and my sister didn't look as cute as originally. At that i almost took it upon myself to continue the family timeline of photos I wanted my kids to have a endless stash of photos to rummage through of me in my prime years. Though when i started this new little hobby the digital era was already at full steam ahead. One day i came across a book on Ellen Von Unwerth and from her photos i saw there was even more to photos then just capturing a few family holidays, i soon became in love with the world of fashion photography i begun to collect a ridiculous amount of over priced indie magazines and spend hours just admiring every page this soon set off my own girly photography stage i guess but its a stage i never really got out of to be honest. I Don't dreams of being a photographer i just do it for the fun of it. Eventually I became a bit of a wiz of photoshop, though me being able to turn a pretty average photo into a very good one opened my eyes to how much photography has changed. When you took a photo and that was it. All the skill within actually taking a photo was almost vanishing really anyone can be a "good photographer" if they know a few tricks on there good old friend mr. photoshop. These photos where no longer the photos i found in the familys chest. Thats what brought me to my Polaroid (well really a fuji film) and loved that i couldn't manipulate it. Soon enough i discovered Lomography i saw photos and they looked more like those photos i found in that chest years ago and so Christmas 2011 I have received my very first Diana F+ and s far i love the not knowing i have to actually think a bit more before i press the shutter Im here for the challenge of taking a film picture fingers crossed it all goes well. if anyones interested in my digital photography there is a lot on my tumblr : http://dotkphotography.tumblr.com/ show more show less
