Some odd differences that I can't explain...

Well, I was very disappointed with the majority of my first Sprocket Rocket shots that came back this morning.

I used Lomo Xpro Chome 100 and had it cross processed.

Most of the photos I took were on a reasonably bright and sunny day, so why did they come out so dark?

The following is from the lab >

Anyhow, the majority of the scans from the lab are dark and really strange colours (I know I had them cross processed, but these seemed stranger than usual) and the fact that I scanned them at home myself (after noticing the negatives looked absolutely fine!) this was the result.

Can anyone explain what is going on here? Why are my scans coming out normal and the lab scans coming out crazy?

Oh and I've checked the negatives were scanned in the correct way at my end, I tried scanning them on both sides, with the same result.

Defenitely the settings. Many, even professional, labs ad extra contrast and saturation, because a lot of amateur pics lack contrast and saturation. People are mostly happy seeing their scanned pics. Labs which scan for professionals don't do that. And yes, professional photographers don't scan themselves. An old friend of mine is a pro, using a digital Hassiebladdie and publishing in magazines and all. She does not know how to turn on a computer. She don't scan, because she shoots digital, but all the post production is done by others. And I see a lot of pro's at the lab, the don't develop and scan themselves. So there is a difference between professional labs and labs for professionals... The same goes for online photoprint services, the cheap ones ad extra colors.
