Faking it: Maipulated Photography Before Photo Shop

This weekend my wIfe and I went to see a really cool exhibit at the National Gallery of Art. here is a link to a story about the exhibit: http://www.washingtonpost.com/gog/exhibits/faking-it-manipulated-photography-before-photoshop,1246981/critic-review.html. I really enjoyed it, but wish it went into better detail about the techniques employed in the dark room. I’m currently taking a darkroom class, so it was really fun to try to manipulate photos in the darkroom tonight. Here is one I did from my bike trip to France last year:

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the article, and that those who have the chance get to see the exhibit before it’s gone.

Wish I could get to see that exhibition! I love playing around in the darkroom, so much fun to dodge, burn, layer, mask and do chem experiments. I myself just went on a one day colour darkroom printing course, excellent fun! and besides the processing of the paper, which is far easier with a machine processor, really not that much harder than B&W.

I used to do darkroom manipulation but I was nowhere near this good. I wish I could see the exhibition too!
