roasted chestnuts
Roasted chestnuts is a snack many Singaporeans love. One will be drawn to the fragrance of freshly roasted chestnuts as the vendor stirs his wok constantly, mixing chestnuts with tiny pebbles stained black with soot at his makeshift stall on the street. Apparently, pebbles is a good conductor of heat and it helps to heat up the chestnut more evenly.
