How bxlomo stumbled into the wonderful world of Lomography
For Bxlomo, a boy and a girl in ‘Bruxelles’, it started very suddenly.
Eventhough they are a couple and should be doing everything lovely together, they are competitive from time to time too. So when the girl visited with her boy her sister they ended up fighting on the ride back home. What happened?
The sister is an architect and celebrated her birthday some days before. From a client, another client and another client she got a Fisheye camera as gift. She loved the gifts very much but… she wasn’t really planning to shoot with 3 cameras a the same time so she decided to give one away and keep the third as a spare one.
The boy and the girl never saw a plastic Fisheye camera before and were equally intriged. Things get blurry then. An hour later, the boy and the girl are in the car on their way home:
Girl: ’Isn’t it cool that my sister gave me this amazing Fisheye, I can’t wait to test this!’
Boy: ‘Huh? She gave YOU? She clearly gave ME that camera, come on! Don’t be silly. I’ll be on the street trying this one tomorrow’
Girl: ‘No way! You are deaf, she CLEARLY said it was for ME!’
Boy: ‘You must be joking! It’s mine you know!’
Girl: ’It’s MY sister so MY camera. Quit it!’
Boy: ‘Ok, I’m texting your sister!’
… some minutes passed by … silence all around … kind of akward …
Response of the sister :
‘You really are a crazy couple, you do know that right? It’s for both of you, enjoy it together!’
Boy and gril:
Since that moment, the boy and the girl took their fisheye wherever they wanted. In the beginning the results weren’t that amazing but they didn’t give up and started to experiment, searched for tips on the Lomography website and discovered this whole new world.
One month later the boy was already seduced by the Diana Deluxe kit, the girl attacked the SuperSampler, they started giving workshops, experimented with the Diana Mini, created a blog, gave each other Lomo presents (a 360 Spinner, ringflash,…) when Birthdays came up, started to collect old camera’s from flee markets, got their first Piggies, …
Since discovering Lomography the boy and girl became even closer than they were before and were never bored again. Whenever a lazy day came up the cameras in the closet started to scream to get out. These cameras are their pets: they need to be taken out regularly to keep them alive!
Today, the boy and girl are still going on. They will purchase their first LCA+RL very soon. And yes … they lived happily ever after … ;)
