Seems as if everyone @LSI is already on holidays so the SELECTED-section is shut down. Since almost one week there is no update. But hey: do we need them to get pics selected?
Definitely not! We just use the channels we have to make our own selected-section. And as we are very generous because it´s christmas time everyone can chose three – in numbers 3 – pics he/she uploaded in the last let´s say two weeks!
Please post those 3 pics here in the comment-section so everyone can check and like them. So have fun and i wish you a marvelous christmas time and new years´s eve!

@jrcolville well, here is your chance! but most probably some are in the section very often is due to a lot of very good input/content. and the main problem is to draw your attention on the pics. so it´s easy for them to check those they already know for good content. so join in.

@gatokinetik-o I like the selected area, it's a great way to see nice pics and get to know people. Since september I am in every update, but sometimes they pick a photo from my home I would not have picked myself.
I also like the fact they don't care what camera you used. They could pick photos taken with the cameras they sell in the shop, but they picked shots I took with a Noblex, a Hasselblad 500, a Hasselblad Xpan, not exactly lo-fi cameras.

well, i don't like that some of the selected shots are so new, that they also show up in the best shots of the day. that is pushing some photos, while others remain undiscovered.

@mephisto19 but it looks a bit like they changes their policy towards it. in the last probably 4 weeks or so they hab a lot of really older pics in the section. as an example: a shot i took in may was in the section about 2 weeks ago. and i think every shot is pushed when being selected.

@bloomchen @mephisto19 I think Bloomchen is right, recently I see pics in the selected area that are taken months ago, made by people I follow. I think they follow a bunch of lomographers (because they can't check everyone) and that they also check what those people like. And I think that's a good way, it is a free website, they don't have to do this. So by following very active lomographers they have a good starting point. The downside is some super shots get unnoticed.

Is it true they are on holidays? I don't think so. Today they have put old new selected images (2 of mine are 2 years old). Why do they chose pictures of some lomographers while others remain undiscovered? I suppose it's a question of actual activity. Otherwise @mephisto19 's pictures would be there all the time. Please upload all those hundreds of rolls you have Stephan! We miss your daily albums as much as we miss @bccbarbosa too. In case the staff is on holidays, which is something I doubt about, I would stay the first, which sound good ;), at least to me, sorry to be the last but happy to be the last photo selected. Of course, as a lomographer I cannot just check the selected images. That would be unfair as there are other wonderful pictures out there waiting to be liked. The more you search, the more opportunities those pictures have.

Hehe this is a fun post @bloomchen! By the way, I think because of your blog post before they recently made changes in the way they select. So @mephisto19 is right about how they selected before and I think they still do that a bit nowadays but yes I noticed they've been selecting old photos recently and there is more variety in the lomographers. That means they are working harder in the selection process. But like disdis said, as lomographers there are other great photos out there aside from the selected section waiting to be seen.

one of my very old photos got selected.... years old... and @disdis - look on my website. i am posting there every now and then. keeping up the one album per day was simply impossible after doing it for so long.
what i tried though to value singe photographs more was starting the "my photo of the day" series in my blog here...
another chance to get to see more photos is to suggest a photo to be selected (and have a limit of one or two per day, so they are in a pool to be selected (you had to apply to win lomohome of the day earlier!!!!) or select users that can select photos.
