1 year sharing photos at lomography.com

On monday was my 1st birthday at lomography.com. Unfortunately I missed it as I was busy cruising through cities in the south of Germany where I spend my childhood and youth. Anyway I think it´s time for a short look back.

One of my first uploaded pictures.

It started all with some La Sardina photos I shot at the World Championships of Beach Ultimate in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy. Unfortunately the camera didn´t make it to the end of this one week Championships. Anyway I was very satisfied with the redscale results. As I was new agagin to lomography – after my long break of about 8 years – I just uploaded a few pictures without making an album out of it and hardly tags so nobody really took notice of it. I guess the first 10 pictures earned nothing more than maybe 15 likes.

I really can´t remember when I uploaded the next pictures. But one of these was liked by weidong and so I got to know his LH and I started browsing through those of others. Then I got quickly a lot more lomo-friends and shared more pictures.
First a few old ones then more new ones.

Got introduced to new cameras by you guys out there – or your pictures – and got me some new cams.

I started shooting doubles not only by accident. Well, I did before but I wasn´t really satisfied with the results so it was due to your great doubles which convinced me giving it a new try.

After 3 months or so I got two pics into the selected section and was pretty astonished about the choice.

Then I started to do some new stuff. Just trying cameras and what came to my mind or what I saw.

The next project was a liitle too big for me and even though I could have gotten to the end of it I had to stop the “30 weeks, 30 cameras”-project after only 15 weeks. It is not really good if you feel like you have to shoot only for the project without having good opportunities. In my eyes a lot of the pics were crap and I really didn´t want to keep on shooting like this. I will probably continue a bit when I feel I should try a new cam but it will then surely take longer than a day or two to shoot the roll.

After about 9 months I felt like I´m really into it. Even though I am more or less contributing to the mass of pictures as I am still learning how to handle cams and films I have a lot of fun shooting, sharing and browsing the site to have a look at your pictures.
Staying a year in a community is a good compliment for the community. So keep it up and I guess I will stay a few years longer.
