Is this a neverending La Sardina story? Take a seat and read.

It´s a pitty how unlucky I am with my beloved La Sardina camera. I know the guys from the Lomo page won´t like this story but well…

I got my first La Sardina from my girlfriend for my anniversary in July. I was really happy and it brought me back to analogue photography. I was quickly back into the topic and trying some stuff. Then at the end of August I was playing at the World Beach Championsships of Ultimate Frisbee in Lignano, Italy and I was pretty euphoric with my La Sardina because I knew I can take great pictures. And so I did I think.

Unfortunately the camera didn´t make it until the end of the week the Worlds lasted. Each day it got harder to transport the roll. With the “funny” plastic look of the La Sardina my teammates started to make fun of the “Toy Camera” because while everyone was shooting with digital cameras they had to wait until I finally reached to transport the roll for another picture – and I really kept it away from the sand. I got several blebs while doing this which isn´t funny when you need your fingers for playing Ultimate.
To make it short: in the end the top wheel broke and I wasn´t able to transport the roll anymore. So back from Italy I went to the Lomoshop and got me a new one. Without any hassle.

So my 2nd Sardina was with me everywhere I went. And again I was happy with the results.

But only until I was attending my next Ultimate Frisbee event. This time I was at a beach tournament in Barcelona and really looking forward to it and the pictures I was going to take. The camera didn´t make it until the end of the first day. A little plastic thing broke and so it was impossible to transport the roll. Back in my hotelroom I tried to put the film back for not losing the pictures I already made and my lab finally rescued some pictures I made. Back again in Berlin I went to the Lomoshop again and I got my 3rd La Sardina. Well, it´s not the end of the story yet!

As it is fall I loaded it with a Lady Grey and while taking the first pictures I got a bad feeling as it seemed the lens aperture didn´t open. To be sure I put it on “B” and made a picture of myself. Yes, it worked – at least while having it on B-modus. I felt like shooting on “N” seemed to work, too but then again I thought it didn´t. It took me a while to reach the end of the roll because I was trying to take pictures with a Lipca Rollop and a new Seagull. Today I went to get my pictures and sadly my feeling was right that the lens aperture only works from time to time – and on “B” mode. I was pretty shocked when looking at the negatives. So unfortunately I will have to make it to the Lomoshop again and now getting my 4th La Sardina. I hope that this will happen again without any hassle and I deeply hope this will then be the end of the story.
