The Island of Fogo is an immense volcano emerging from the depths of the Atlantic. According to documents from the XVth century, the island was initially named São Filipe but volcanic eruptions led its inhabitants from the fourteen hundreds to change its name to “Fogo” (fire).

Goree Island (Ile de Gorée ) is a very pleasant place to visit and an easy day trip from Dakar. However, aside from its quaint charm and laid back atmosphere, this island also holds a strong relevance to the dark history of the Atlantic Slave Trade.

Last Sunday, I drove to Albenga to take photos of the abandoned factory that I always see when I enter the town. With my Holga camera and SX-70 in tow, I spent half an hour there just taking photos. It was a good spot for picture taking on a gloomy Sunday.
