@awesomesther : "with all the apps etc which can make the photos look like "lomo" but fact is, they are digital. lomo goes way beyond this."
Yes, I tweeted that. And in response, I got some replies from like-minded people, and now we’re virtual friends! Ain’t that amazing?!
How the tweet came about…
Just at the spur of the moment cos I was looking through my friends’ posts on Twitter and their photos are all digitally enhanced to make them look “Lomo”.
Yea I know “Lomo” is like the cool thing now, and everyone wanna be part of it. I am not against taking photos with phones or digicams, I own both as a matter of fact. BUT! If one thinks that, by digitally enhancing some photos and tweaking the colors to make it “Lomo”, makes you “cooler” you can’t be more wrong!
To me, Lomo is about experimenting and getting your hands “dirty” and actually going back to basics. And also, that excitement I found I could have, when I hand my rolls to the lab and the anticipation of waiting for it be to processed and there is the excitement when I get to hold them in my hands and see… “Ah! the fruits of my labour!”
Now, that’s something you’ll not get with digital cameras or phones.
