You Say You Want A Revolution.

Sprockets, those little holes that everyone loves so much. So easy to create with an iPhone app – it was a snap. I didn’t use the filter all the time but I used it enough. Then one day I discovered true sprocket hole photography featuring real 35mm film…..I had no clue that such a thing was happening long before filters within iPhone apps. My first attempt at sprocket photography was with my Holga 120 GN fitted (hacked) with a roll of 35mm film and small chunks of foam to hold it in place. It was successful, my first taste of sprocket photography stretched across a roll of cheap B&W film in all it’s glory. My next attempt was a gigantic leap forward with the purchase of the Lomography Sprocket Rocket….and I never looked back. This camera is so easy to use with it’s panoramic lens, soft shutter release, simple focus dial, and super light body. Add to that a roll-back double (even multi) exposure feature that can make for some interesting shots. The Sprocket Rocket seems suited for whatever it’s pointed at – landscapes, street photography, or simple snapshots…..it does a great job. I’m almost embarrass to admit that I didn’t know about the true origins of sprocket hole photography. I’ve since promised myself that I’ll never disrespect sprockets with an iPhone app ever again. The sprocket revolution…..is real!
