Taste is a funny thing...

Since I started shooting on analogue cameras again, I’ve had many that I thought were really good, and very few I didn’t like.

The biggest surprise was this one:

Which I was proud enough to shout about. I went bonkers on shoutbox,“check it out, look at this wonderful happy accident!”. And people came to see it. Then it appeared on ‘Recent Popular Photos’ and I was thrilled.

This weekend was an even bigger surprise. A shot appeared on ‘Handpicked Photos’ (the one right at the top). I couldn’t believe it, then the likes started pouring in and moved it to only one below the tree photo above. I wouldn’t be surprised if it overtakes it today.

I thank you all very much for enjoying my photo, I do appreciate it, truly I do. The funny thing is, that one nearly ended in the trash. I can’t understand it, still don’t. It’s murky, muddy, underexposed.

What is it you like enough for it to be the second most liked of all of my photos?

(And whilst we’re at it, give it a push, make it the most liked!).

My handpicked pictures aren't my favorite ones, too. I like them, but I have much better ones. But nevertheless I like your first picture! I guess it's a matter of taste. And of course we tend to be much more critical on our own work than on others :)

What strikes me about the first photo is the strength of its subtlety. It's not trying to clonk you on the noggin with bold brash appeal, it just kinda just sits back and give the suggestion quietly, lets you come to it. To me the it actually has a very dynamic composition which not only keeps your eye moving, but it also directs your eye to the storyline and main focal points of the shot. The lighting is akin to a chiaroscuro painting, which lends it great atmosphere and there are just some lovely quirky touches, like the painted design on one hand and that something is held in the other, which leaves you wondering.

Great stuff, and crongrats on all the likes :)

Cor wow! Thanks for that @asharnanae I'm beginning to see it now, I guess, still being a noob, I'm still looking for the brashness. Perhaps I should relax and maybe this is my rhythm.
