There is so little presence for Lomography here in Auckland, I want to find out if people would be keen to make something more of what limited group there is!
There is a site, called meetup dot com or something, with a lomography group on it, getting virtually no traction. I’m wondering if enough local lomographers in Auckland would be interested in getting together. As we are a small community we could find strength in numbers.
We could do what meetups do and find cool places to go, but we can also enable ourselves to do more. We could swap film, I don’t mean in the traditional sense, I mean expired film we’ve acquired, to get more variation in our collections. We could pitch in to bulk buy from ebay.com lowering the cost of importing film and getting it cheaper than we otherwise can. We can stop bidding against each other on trade me and help each other, share large batches etc.
If you are interested, comment here. I’m not sure how the group currently on meetup will go, but we can at least watch it or sort something out.
With anticipation of putting some faces to names, Adam signing off!
JUST ADDED! I’M STARTING TO GET REQUESTS FOR THE FACEBOOK GROUP, PLEASE PRIVATE MESSAGE ME THE NAMES YOU’LL BE REQUESTING UNDER OR OTHERS NAMES YOU’VE SENT THERE SO I CAN INITIALLY SCREEN NEW MEMBERS.

Hey Adam, great idea! Unfortunately I have since relocated to Sydney but have forwarded your idea onto another friend of mine who loves lomo and is still in Aucks :)

This is a great idea! I know a few people that are interested in lomography! Ever consider doing something on facebook (just because it is so easily accessible by everyone)?

@gypsyr0se @amytam thanks for responding! Who organised the Diana F+ classes? Facebook is a good start, I'll see what I can do next week with it. So by the sounds of it there are at least 7 or 8 people who would be interested. If that is the case, there are a couple of shops that sell the cameras, I could approach them to help with a venue for a meetup or something. I could also perhaps approach Lomography.com for some assistance. I figure if they aren't going to have a shop here, then they owe us some support! ;)

I'm honestly surprised to see other Aucklanders on here. Sounds like a worthy venture, really. I am curious to see what becomes of that Facebook idea.

How about you just make a closed group on Facebook (that way people can find it, but they have to ask to join... or something). Then we can all join it, and it'd be like a forum, we can post links to stuff, discuss things, and even create events and such. It's be the easiest option, and it's free.

@gypsyr0se @amytam @antheaw @thefinalcoda @odax Thanks for your interest guys, I've set up the facebook page, so why not go there and register your interest and I'll let you in. Thanks @odax for the specific instructions on the closed group. Once people are in I'll figure out how to use it and we'll figure out where to next. @antheaw I like your approach and suggestion of venue. I reckon that could be a goer! Facebook should provide us with an easier method of communication so we'll head over there. This is the link I think http://www.facebook.(…)0078810437/ but I called the group Auckland Lomography so it should be findable.

Done! I've also forwarded the link to my friend who is also very interested in lomography. Her name is Jeannie Lan.

good luck adam_g2000. Weedos and I have started something similar for Alberta lomographers and our first event is coming up this month. "If you build it, they will come"
