Mmmm, a new toy!

At the end of last week I scored a Lubitel 2. After the dissapointment of my Lubitel 166B I was skeptical and my expectations were vastly lowered.

I’ve just run a test film through this, so wish me luck.

LATEST: Test shots are in, I think overall they are ok, lens seems prone to flares, may need to look at making a card lens hood if I’m going to use this ongoing, and I may take it apart, as I’m not too sure the focussing is up to scratch. Could be a project. See the photos here and any comments would be welcome!

My lubitel is prone to flares too. I bought a hood for the lens but 9/10 times I just use an object or my hand to keep excess light out. I saw the pics and the lens looks really clean & great colors.

@neanderthalis thanks for the feedback, what hood did you get? I have another Lubitel (somewhere shipping around the world at the moment) so it would be useful...

@adam_g2000 I just bought a cheap rubber collapsible hood like this: http://www.bhphotovi(…)r_Lens.html It was my first attempt with a hood so I went cheap. It works, but I find it does appear in the viewfinder while I focus. If I am in extreme glare or taking portraits, I will use more than off the hip.
