Shooter's Block

I work from a home office, so I find it easy to follow the ‘take your camera everywhere you go’ rule as I never go anywhere. Not unless it’s by ritual or planned.

Which leaves me with a problem. All my plans have seized up. I look at the wonderful work here and I’m getting stuck and jealous. I can’t afford to go abroad. I’ve done all the museums. I don’t go clubbing or bar hopping, I’m too old.

What’s next? I wondered if anyone was willing to share their plans for 2012 perhaps give my inspiration a kick up the bum?

I know what you feel. Try to do film swaps! It doesn't need planning and it's always surprising... :-)))

@maria_vlachou you're right, film swaps are incredible! In this year I would try different films, and multiple exposure with different camera ^__^

I definitely feel your dilemma. My island is a bit smaller than yours and I feel like I constantly struggle for new photo ideas. Sometimes a new camera/equipment sparks ideas or perhaps going to your local bookstore or library can spark inspiration from the photography section as it has for me. I also look for ideas of other photographer's work in my area to see if I can duplicate shots or try something different based on their work. I have over a 100 rolls of film I need to use and have challenged myself to use as much as possible by 2013. With only a little vacation time and minimal disposable income, I need to get creative locally. I also look for events in my local paper to help get ideas too. Hope you get inspired soon. I enjoy your posts.

@maria_vlachou, @gibri, @atria007 I'm partway through two film swaps at the moment and yes, I'm very excited about the results, especially as the distance between the places and here is vast! If they go well I can certainly see me doing more of these.

I've had an idea. The camera I've found most challenging this year is Diana. She's beautiful, but spends more time sitting in a drawer than any other. Perhaps I should challenge myself to get creative with her. I need to find a project with which I'm only allowed to use Diana. Also I've never done multiples. I'll be honest some of you do amazing work with doubles, but I doubt myself. Time to grow a pair and just do some!
