Even the most stubborn photo-phobes can't seem to resist flexing their calves, dusting off their joints, and springing into action for some hoppety-hop! (because we're all secretly clinging to our 5 year-old selves!)
I love taking pictures of people.
People don’t love me taking pictures of them.
Some people stick a hand up to the camera as soon as they spy it’s looming lense-shaped shadow.
Some people (the ’Gurners) contort their face into the most abstract image their delicate features can manage.
Others (the ’Hollywood Smilers) perfect a pose straight off the Oscar red-carpet one leg forward, hand on hip, chin tilt, and billion dollar smile.
And finally, there are the ‘Walkers’- as in, errrr, they just walk off (sometimes so quickly ,that you later find among your prints a photo of dust, along with the faint suggestion of someone’s backside).
I have however, found that the magic word ‘JUMP’ seems to transform the most grumpy of models into the most enthusiastic of posers (in fact, it is the more reserved photographees that often make the best jumpees!) and make for some really fun and unexpected pictures.
Folk just love jumping!
Take one dreary poser:
And transform to THIS, at the mere mention of a leg-stretch…
and some more……
and of course, everyone loves a group shot, but it is harder to get the timing right!
These aren’t always the most breath-taking photographs, but they inspire everyone to join in, and make for some excellent memories…
